Harmanpreet Kaur becomes first Indian cricketer to reach 100 T20 International matches
Harmanpreet Kaur, Indian women’s cricket captain, became India’s first cricketer to play 100 T20 Internationals. Harmanpreet achieved this feat in the sixth and final T20 International against South Africa at Surat.
Harmanpreet Kaur is the first Indian to achieve this feat in both the female and male categories. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, who have the same 98 matches registered in their names, appear second after her.

• Harmanpreet Kaur is among 10 women players who have played more than 100 T20 international matches.
• Australia’s Ellyse Perry and New Zealand’s Suzie Bates are on the top of the list with 111 international matches.
• Harmanpreet Kaur and Pakistan’s Bisman Maroof along with West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor have played 100 international T20s.
• Only Shoaib Malik (111) has played more than 100 T20 Internationals so far in men’s T20s. However, he has already announced retirement, only Rohit Sharma can break his record.
• Women cricket team coach WV Raman presented her a special cap that had ‘100’ engraved on the side.
About India-South Africa series
India lost sixth T20 match to South Africa by a huge 105 runs margin but still clinched the series 3-1 in Surat. Two matches of this series were washed away due to heavy rain during the game. South Africa played first and scored challenging 175 runs for three wickets. Major players of South Africa’s innings were Lizelle Lee (84 off 47 balls) and Sune Luus (62 off 56 balls).
Both of the opening players made 144 runs together in 95 balls. Indian bowlers couldn’t impress much as Harmanpreet Kaur (1/5), Poonam Yadav (1/34) and Arundhati Reddy (1/28) took three wickets. The Indian batting order was also failed to perform as six wickets were dismissed within 6.2 overs. The Indian team was all out for 70 in 17.3 overs. Now, India and South Africa will challenge each-other in three-match ODI series with the first game scheduled in Vadodara on October 9.
