Air Force Common Aptitude Test is conducted twice a year (i:e In the month of February and August/September) to recruit the candidates who aspire for becoming an Officer in Indian Air Force.
AFCAT is carried out by the Indian Air Force to select officers in all branches of the IAF (except medical and dental).
AFCAT exam is conducted by the Indian Air Force for recruiting Graduate candidates in three different branches:

The Training is carried out at the Air Force Academy Dundigal, Hyderabad.
EXAMINATION PATTERN:
- AFCAT encloses 100 Multiple Choice Questions.
- Each question encloses of three marks.
- Negative Marking is there i.e. for each wrong attempt one mark is deducted.
- Exam Duration: 2 hours.
- Syllabus: Reasoning, Quant, English and General Knowledge.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
After accomplishing success in the AFCAT exam the candidates are asked to undergo Air Force Selection Board Interview
LOCATION OF AFSB CENTRES: Dehradun, Varanasi and Mysore.
After AFSB interview the candidates can take supplementary exams for their apposite choice of branches. If a candidate intended for flying branch then he/she has to get cleared the PABT (Pilot Aptitude and Battery Test). Likewise if a candidate intended for technical branch then he/she has to clear the EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test).
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION :
GROUND DUTY BRANCH: A Graduate Degree (Minimum 3 year graduation course) in any field with a minimum of 60% marks in cumulative of all papers put collectively or a Post Graduation Degree / corresponding Diploma in any field with a minimum of 50% marks in cumulative of all papers put collectively and Minimum 60% in 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics as subjects. For Educational Branch, Post Graduation Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in cumulative of all papers put collectively.
TECHNICAL BRANCH: An aspirant is eligible for applying into Technical Branch only when if he/she has undergone a minimum of 4 year degree course from a renowned University or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by tangible studies.
FLYING BRANCH: A Graduate Degree (Minimum 3 year graduation course) in any field with a minimum of 60%marks in cumulative of all papers put collectively and have passed Mathematics and Physics at Secondary level or BE / B Tech degree (4 year course) from a renowned University with minimum 60% marks in cumulative in all papers put collectively.
An aspirant appearing in final year or final semester of graduation can also apply for all the courses provided he/she carry out the following conditions:-
- A Candidate should not have any current log jam and should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in cumulative in all papers put collectively upto the final semester / year during the time of online form submission and at the time of SSB.
- A Candidate should be capable to make available provisional / original degree certificate issued by University.
