COMMON ELIGIBILITY TEST FOR SSC BANK AND OTHER CENTRAL GOVT JOBS
In order to make competitive exams highly transparent, the Central Government is organizing a Common Eligibility Test (CET) for all the candidates across the nation. The main notion behind CET is to conduct government exams properly and to avoid the difficulties that candidates face during or after exam. The Common Entrance Test (CET) for all government exams will make the recruitment process fair.
A Bill was presented in Rajya Sabha earlier this week by the government of India to bring in transparency in all government recruitment exams. According to the bill, the candidates for Group B (Non-Gazetted) and other lower grade Posts will be selected through Common Entrance Test (CET). It is expected that around 3 crore candidates can register for all three levels of CET which will make it the world’s biggest test.
The CET will be held for various government exams such as SSC, Banking, Railway and other exams from 2019 onwards.
The Purpose of Common Entrance Test (CET) offered by Government:-
– To bring in the transparency in all government recruitment exams and to conduct exams systematically.
– To overcome the irregularities and disorder in the conduct of exam.
– Dealing with Challenges With Less Manpower.
Registration for CET is Mandatory
In order to start the process under the amended system, Candidates are required to register themselves on the official site of National Carrier Services (NCS), Ministry of Labour and Employment which will provide a unique id for each candidate.
Reason for conducting CET by Government
In previous years, most of the government exams failed for some reason which was conducted for selection to the post of Staff/Officers by various government organizations. This is the reason for government taking the idea of Common Entrance Test (CET) seriously. According to the Staff Selection Commission, the Commission had to cancel nine exams partially or completely in last five years.
Selection Process for CET
The exam will be conducted in two phases for entire recruitment system
– Tier 1: A common screening test for all government recruiting agencies exam such as SSC, Banking, Railway etc.
– Tier 2: Main exams organised by respective recruitment agencies.
Education level and system under CET
It has been suggested to conduct exam into following three stages under CET:-
- Matriculation
- Senior Secondary
- Graduate Level
It is also proposed that only a common exam will be conducted at graduation level from financial year 2018-2019. In the consistent year, there is a proposal to conduct exam into three phases.
Benefits of Common Eligibility Test (CET):
- It will decrease number of exams conducted by various government agencies and save the money.
- CET scores can be used by state governments and public sector.
Demerits of Common Eligibility Test
The question paper for Common Eligibility Test will conduct in English and Hindi Language. CET exams will not be held in regional languages. This can be a major problem for the candidates preparing for government jobs in regional language.
