CDS (Combined Defence Services)
Union Public Service Commission (UPS) conduct Combined Defence Services examination for providing admission to candidates in Indian Naval Academy, Officer’s Training Academy, Air Force Academy and Indian Military Academy. The CDS exam is conducted twice in a year. The CDS 1 2018 Online Application process has been over now whereas CDS 2 2018 application form will be available from 8th August 2018. All the interested and eligible candidates must go through the important details regarding CDS 2018 and start applying for the same after the release of official CDS 2018 notification.
Candidates must confirm their eligibility before they apply for the entrance test. I am sharing below information regarding minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in CDS exam 2018. Please read the information carefully and apply for the exam accordingly.
We have updated the dates below according to the CDS official notification released by Union Public Service Commission. The given dates may or may not be updated. We will provide information regarding the same according to its official notification.

In case you are looking to apply for CDS 2 2018 then you must meet with following eligibility conditions. No candidate is permitted to apply before fulfilling the following criteria, so check this section very carefully. All the provided details are based on previous year’s exam notification and you may find changes after the announcement of its official notification.
Nationality Conditions
You should be meeting with one of the following nationality conditions:
- An Indian resident or
- A subject of Bhutan or
- A subject of Nepal or
- You should belong to Tibetan refugee group who came to Indian earlier than 1st January 1962 for permanent settling in the country.
- In case you are originally from Indian origin but migrated from Malawi, Zambia, the united Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Burma, Pakistan and east African countries of Zaire, Kenya and Ethiopia or Vietnam and Came to India for permanent settling in the country.
Physical Conditions
You must be fit physically according to physical standards as prescribed by respective authority.
Age Criteria and Martial Status
- Conditions of Air Force Academy: should be born not earlier than 02 July 1995 and not after 01 July 1999.For candidates having genuine and latest commercial pilot Licence (should be born not earlier than 2 July1993 and not after 01 July 1999)
- If your age is below than 25 years then you must be unmarried and you will not be permitted to get married during training period.
- Candidates who are married and their age is more than 25 years can apply. Please keep in mind that you will not be provided any marriage accommodation.
- Candidates for IMA and Indian Naval Academy:- Group of unmarried candidates, who are born not earlier than 2nd July, 1995 and not after 1st July, 2000.
- Conditions for officers’ Training Academy:-(SSC Course for Men):-Married as well as unmarried candidates are permitted to apply for this post but they should be born not earlier than 2nd July,1994 and not after 1st July,2000.
- Conditions for officers, Training Academy-:-( SSC women Non-Technical Course):-Issueless divorcees who are not remarried, unmarried women and Issueless widows who are not remarried are permitted to apply for this post. Looking into its age criteria, they should be born not before than 2nd July, 1994 and not after than 1st July, 2000.

Final Year students are permitted to apply but their section is provisional until they produce requisite certificate on or before the prescribed deadline.
Syllabus
The syllabus of CDS 2018 will be prepared by UPSC. The examination syllabus helps the candidates while their preparation. So, candidates planning to appear in the exam should go through the syllabus carefully.
English (code -1)
The authority prepares the English question paper in order to check candidates’ ability towards the understanding of English and Workmanlike use of words.
General knowledge (code-2)
This section includes questions from current events of those matters of everyday surveillance and experience in their scientific aspects. Question will be also included from the History of India and Geography of nature.
Elementary Mathematics (code-3)
Questions are included in this paper from Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Mensuration, Statistics, Intelligence and Personality test.

Quick Highlights
- All the questions will be objective type only;
- Candidates will find the question papers of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics in English as well as Hindi language;
- Candidates have to write the question paper by their own hand. Under no circumstances, they will be allowed to get help from the scribe.
- A calculator cannot be used for answering questions.
